Ampersand Answers: Sustaining Energy

When ideas meet power, choices solidify.

The Question:

How can I create the energy to sustain my choices?

&mpersand Answers:

Choice, or choosing, is the action step that results from each one having the Divine Gift of Free Will. Often, choosing is a fraught action for a lot of humans. We can go into the why of that at another time.

Instead, let’s examine the scaffolding that upholds choice.

First, you get in touch with your own desire for something, say, a new coat.

Second, you imagine your new coat, not on a hanger, but on your very own person. That imagining is what revs up the power to sustain all the steps that go toward a new coat.

Third, you figure out the steps—shopping, in a store? Or online? Do you know your size? What color do you want? How long is the coat?

Every single detail represents a choice. This is no exaggeration. Think of the number of choices you make just to buy a new coat!

Fourth, after desire, after imagining, after all your tiny steps, the choice solidifies is the word Mr. Levine uses. Another way to say it might be: gets real.

Barring catastrophic intervention, say, a monsoon, you’re ready to get it done—the fulfillment of your every choice. Thus,

On Saturday, I’m going shopping with my bestie for a new winter coat. It’s rich cherry red wool, reaches all the way to the ground, is size X or Y, and it’s on sale for half-off!

The engine in all choosing, Belovèd, is imagination.
