Ampersand Answers: Enough

The only thing people regret
is that they didn’t live boldly enough,
that they didn’t invest enough heart,
didn’t love enough.

Ted Hughes, poet

The Question:

How can I know if I’m investing enough?

&mpersand Answers:

The secret to this answer is in the word enough. And enough, just like happiness, is a decision. Does that surprise you? It should. Very few of us know this.

If you’re on a committee for the first grade whilst you have a first grader, by all means, invest what’s necessary. When your little angel is in second grade, resign the first grade committee.

There’s always a place to put your love, especially when you’re investing in things that help your family or friends or even strangers. Invest in the things you believe in, Belovèd.

Anyone who knows me would know that asking me to be on a Little League fundraising team would get a cool No. On the other hand, tutus for little girls in ballet class? I’m there.

What’s the difference? I’m interested in the ballet class for girls, and not as interested in Little League. You’ll gladly put your heart into things when you care about them, and that’s how you’ll know it’s enough: you care.
