Perseverance, secret of all triumphs.
Victor Hugo
The Question:
How can I know if I’m persevering or needing to let go?
&mpersand Answers:
In a nutshell, perseverance has energy behind it, energy that you do not feel you have to mask or hide it. It has its own momentum.
When you’re needing to let go, on the other hand, oy. If you’ve been holding on for a long time, letting go can take a long time. Not only that but it can be extremely uncomfortable.
What to do? First, test your own energy system. Do you have a lot of get up and go about a project? Or has your get up and go got up and went? You’ll feel the truth in your body.
Second, is your heart in it? Whatever the project. If it is, great. You’re just tired—have a bowl of your favorite naughty cereal, or, call ’em up and quit. Oh, but if your heart is in it, stay with it. All jobs have some icky parts.
Third, how about your brain? Is it engaged? Interested? Learning? If you’re not learning, it’s a useless exercise, unless you’re teaching it to others, which is its own form of learning. Pat your brain. If it’s engaged, bravo!
Fourth, is your deepest self, your spirit, into it? If so, stay with whatever you’re doing.
And if any part of you needs to let go, Belovèd, then all of you does. Let it go. Something better will take its place. Promise.
