There are two kinds of truth: the truth that lights the way and the truth that warms the heart. The first of these is science, and the second is art. Neither is independent of the other or more important than the other.

Without art, science would be as useless as a pair of high forceps in the hands of a plumber. Without science, art would become a crude mess of folklore and emotional quackery. The truth of art keeps science from becoming inhuman, and the truth of science keeps art from becoming ridiculous.

How can I integrate both science and art?

You can deliberately seek the magical information that is within you in all its aspects.  

Too much intellect is cold. That’s why it needs the perspectives of heart and body.

Too much spirit is spacey. It too needs heart and body. 

Too much heart is messy. That’s why it needs the perspectives of intellect and spirit.

Too much body is constrained. It too needs intellect and spirit. 

You could say that science and art are a polarity. Mr. Chandler’s options of inhuman and ridiculous address the extremes. 

But from the center of you, when you encounter a truth, if you’ll seek information from all four of your inner aspects, you will be astonished at how easily you integrate the two. 

Science and art need one another, just as we need each other.
