The Question:
How can I be sure when a leap of faith is needed?

The first time I saw this idea, it was on a Mary Engelbreit Page-A-Day calendar, and I believe an intrepid redhead had just launched herself and her bicycle over an endless chasm. Implicit was that she made it. Of course she did.
What is a leap of faith? At bottom, it’s a risk, one that it scares you to take. Not paralyzes you. Scares you. You might have to talk yourself into it. Or you might be required to make a fast decision when you’d rather have a few days to mull it over. Or you might have to trust someone you don’t know well. All sorts of things are risky.
So let’s go to the furthest point. What happens if your risk doesn’t pan out? You’ll get to choose (code word: risk) again. It’s that simple and it’s that hard. All of life here on Earth is about our choices. Those choices involve risks to one degree or another.
Interestingly, we seem to have Velcro memory for those times our choices didn’t work out when in more times than not they actually do work out. We call those luck. They’re not. They’re choices—risks—that turned out to be worth a leap of faith.
Every risk you take, Belovèd, is absolutely worth it, no matter how or if it works out. Why? Because each one helps you learn, grow, heal, and live to tell the tale, and to choose again another day, and that’s what we’re all here to do.
